Seaside Pirates Meet 2025
On Sunday 15th June, a small team headed to the Seaside Pirates Meet.
Our members were: Micah, Grant, Owen, Joanna, Kelly, Bronte, Belinda and Suzie.
Well done to Micah for attending his first carnival and coming away with 3 Personal Best swims! It was fantastic to see you smile after each of your races. I am sure this is just the start for you 🙂
As a club we finished 7th overall and 6th on average points.
Individual age group results were:
Micah 1st, Grant 1st, Owen 1st, Joanna 2nd, Bronte 2nd, Kelly 3rd, Bel equal 1st and Suzie equal 1st.
Congratulations to Kelly for receiving her 4 State Records for the following events:
- 25m Fly – 13.90
- Short Course 200IM – 2:26:41
- Short Course 100m Backstroke 1:07:18
- Short Course – 400 IM – 5:13:49
Some of you might be thinking, what Kelly came 3rd at this meet. Yes competition is fierce these days, but in reality, Kelly’s 3rd place (when has she ever finished lower than 1st?) came from her 400m ‘freestyle’, where she swam breaststroke, hence her ’slow’ time compared with the other freestylers. Why? Because Kelly just loves breaking records, and the 400m breaststroke records were on the line last Sunday. The result? She broke the NSW 400m S/C breaststroke record by about 25 seconds, in a time of 5:57.3. But wait, there’s more… The Australian record was also a possibility… Did she do it? Are you sitting down? Kelly absolutely smashed the Australian record by 0.4 seconds. Kelly is currently wallpapering her home with NSW and Australian record certificates – from all reports she has finished the bedrooms and living areas, and has started on the bathroom and laundry. Congratulations Kelly!
