NSW Masters long course

Our club attended the NSW Masters long course carnival on the 17th and 18th March 2018.
We achieved 7 gold medals, 6 silver & 6 bronze, not a bad effort for only seven swimmers.
41 clubs attended the meet & Campbelltown Masters came in 15th on total points, 6th on average, still not a bad effort.

22 February 2018
Myall Lakes

Great day at Myall Lakes, 8 members swam, out of 20 clubs, we came 6th overall & 4th on averages, we are "certainly punching above our weight" as expressed by Kim Beazley.
We had 2/1sts, Annie Cooke & Owen Sinden
1/2nd Jim Preiss
2/3rds, Kim Beazley & Lindsay Risk
Foot note: Lesley Thompson swam "out of her skin" all PBs she has been putting in a lot of work this year and it's paying off.

We Did It - Again

What's better than winning the national endurance swimming championship for clubs? Winning it twice!
2017 was another wonderful year for Campbelltown Masters Swimming Club, crowned Australian champions for the second successive year!
That's 1st place out of over 150 clubs around the country, so not a bad effort.
Congratulations to all participating club members, another stellar (if at times a bit tiring) performance.

Swimmers do our club proud (again)

5th November 2017, at the NSW Masters Swimming Long Distance Championships, our swimmers did our club proud (again).
We're a small club but… placing 6th in NSW from 50 clubs is just a brilliant performance. A little perspective here… Ryde won the state-wide overall yearly pointscore for Division 1 last year and have a swim group of about 80. Seaside Pirates, with just 50 points, see themselves as the state's 'premier' Masters swimming club.
A total of 76 points was gained from 4 gold medals and 4 silvers (none of that bronze rubbish for us!), a wonderful achievement - from 4 swimmers. Throw in a couple of lifetime PB's and you'll see why we're smiling :)
PS Some more perspective… that little club Campbelltown is the current/reigning Australian and NSW endurance swimming champion club! mmm, feels good :)

Another great effort at Ettalong Carnival - 20th May 2017

The club had 7 swimmers entered, we came 8th overall & 5th for average point score out of 30 clubs.
Placings – 12 - 1st
            8 - 2nds
            3 - 3rds
Rather good effort, we are definitely punching above our weight!!

Another awesome result in the NSW Long Course Championships

On the 8th April the NSW Long Course Championships were held. We only had 6 swimmers at the carnival, but we came 14th overall out of 43 clubs, 2nd on average per swimmer, not a bad effort! Click on the link to read the full detailed report.

Campbelltown Masters Swimming Wins Australian Title

2016 was a stellar year for Campbelltown Masters Swimming Club, winning the national championship for endurance swimming.

It was a year-long effort from all 25 club members as we set a massive points target at the beginning of the year, then smashed that total too.

What did we win? The highest-ever average-points-per-swimmer award in the history of Australian masters swimming! And that's out of 152 clubs across the country. The past three years had seen Campbelltown finished second in Australia but 2016 proved we could really lift our performance.

For such a small club, we did extraordinarily well in the total points score too, finishing third out of 152.

For the last few years Campbelltown had averaged about 550 points per member and in 2016 we aimed at 600, which had never been reached ever in Australia. That 'wooshing' sound in November was the 600 mark flying by, so we then aimed at 620, then 630… and finally totalled 652.48, a truly massive total.

Congratulations to all team members on a wonderful achievement.

Yet another successful club carnival!

Today we held yet another fantastic club carnival. The weather was perfect, the pool was perfect. Thanks to the help of all members the carival ran so smoothly. Congratulations to Heather, Russell and Katie for winning their age groups. Also to Katie who broke the NSW long course record for 400m backstroke by about 5 seconds. To top it all off we won the point score by 15 points. To put the icing on the cake, we also got a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the relays. Thanks to everyone for a remarkable effort and a wonderful carnival.

Campbelltown's Newest State Champion
Gold for Victor Libdy at State Long Distance Championships at Blacktown

Greetings from the state long distance championships, held today at Blacktown, where our newest state swimming champion has emerged.

These championships are open to EVERY masters swimmer in NSW, so to even win a medal is to congratulated - but to win gold is exceptional.

Victor Libdy claimed gold in the blue riband event, the 400m freestyle. It was a close race, with 'our' Victor holding a 3 second advantage at the 100m mark, extending it to 5 seconds at the 200m, then 6 secs at 300m and finally triumphing by 7 seconds! It was a very close race and Victor left everything in the pool - he was absolutely buggered at the end.

Congratulations, Victor, on your first individual state gold medal.

Russell added a gold in the 400m IM and Owen won the 400m breaststroke. In all, 3 gold, one silver and one bronze - job well done!

Above is Victor being presented with his gold medal by our own Kevin Stirling, who was volunteering at the state long distance championships.

Campbelltown Masters Swimming Wins Again!
State Champions

At Saturday's NSW AGM, Campbelltown Masters Swimming was again presented with the National Aerobic (Endurance) Trophy, for the highest average point score in the state. Since the inception of the tropy in 2001, there has been just one winner - Campbelltown. That's 13 years straight as state champions. Campbelltown has etched out a niche in long distance swimming; we have won many state and Australian awards for our efforts, both average points per swimmer and total points. This is a remarkable effort from a relatively small club.

Awards announced at NSW AGM

At the NSW annual general meeting held today it was announced that Barbara had been awarded the Administration Award for best club administration in NSW. Congratulations Barbara!

Campbelltown also collected the two tropies as state champions for NSW Aerobics/Endurance swimming total points score and highest-average-points-per-swimmer.

Little club keeps winning big

In 2012 Campbelltown Collegians AUSSI Masters Club won the National Endurance Award, for highest average endurance/aerobics points per swimmer.

In the national Total point score ("National Ensurance Trophy") we came 2nd.

In the maximum points tally nationally (National Endurance Trophy – where big clubs rule) over the 26 years its been operating, Campbelltown has finished 3rd in 2008 and 2nd in 2009 and 2012 – three top-3 finishes. However, in the National Endurance Award – where points-per-swimmer are most important, Campbelltown didn't finish in the top 3 before 1991, but since 1991... we've finished 3rd 4 times, finished 2nd 6 times and, we've finished 1st a total of 10 times!

Campbelltown Club Carnival

Wow, what a wonderful day! Thanks to everyone, you all contributed in some way to the terrific day. It certainly has been a team effort - and we won the carnival point score too :)))

For many it was their first carnival - I certainly hope you enjoyed the experience. Well done too to our state and national record breakers.

Relay Results

12 of from our club competed at Homebush and every swimmer gained at least a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place - very creditable performances considering the total number of swimmers and teams (a few clubs had well over 30 swimmers, one club had over 40).

In a total of 15 events, we filled every place from 1st to 8th. We had one each of 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th places...and 5 x 3rds, 2 x 2nds and 3 x 1sts!

Helga and Heather shared the spoils with three 1sts each, plus a second and a third each - well done ladies!

Trophies

The Masters Swimming NSW AGM was held today. We received eight towels in total for our members who completed all aerobics swims or who scored maximum points.

We also collected the two state aerobics trophies for total points and highest average points (the avarage points trophy has never been won by ANY other club since its inception in 2001 - 10 years straight). Another great aerobics year for Campbelltown.

The big awards were presented at the end - club of the year and male/female swimmer of the year. Well, we didn't win club of the year... but state President Jane Noake made it absolutely clear to all present that Campbelltown came a VERY close second! That's a fantastic achievement, well done and congratulations to everyone.

And now the best bit - Kate Lewis won Female Masters Swimmer of the Year! Woohoo! What an absolutely outstanding achievement, congratulations Kate. Of course we all take some of the credit for your performances - 5/5 gold at state, 12/12 gold at Nationals, not a bad effort.

Campbelltown swimmers excell

At the recent NSW Masters Swimming annual presentation at Homebush, Campbelltown AUSSI Masters, one of the smallest of the 52 Masters swimming clubs in NSW, won many of the state's top awards. These included, the Participation, Total Points and Average Points awards.

In addition to these, Russell McLeod was awarded the best club administrator award. This is the first time in Masters Swimming NSW history that the same club has won this award for 2 consecutive years, having last year been awarded to Heather Rouen. Follow this link to see Russell's award nomination.

The club also received the state division 2 championship and short course sprint championship trophies.

Eight other members were also acknoledged as national aerobics pointscore champions in their respective age groups, with a further three swimmers receiving awards for completing all the aerobic swims, ie 62 long-distance swims in 12 months.

Raining medals at the relays

It rained sliver, we totalled 8 2nd places! We finished the day with 1 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronzes (13 top-3 places!), with another four 4th places and three 5ths.

A special "well done" to Hans, Kevin, Russell and Mark for bringing home our only gold! Kelly, Alex and Katie picked up four silvers each, a fantastic effort.

Of course, none of this would be possible without our own "Wonderwoman" - Club Captain Heather. A big thank-you from everyone, Heather, for putting the teams together and thanks too to Kerry and Kris for helping Heather.
